AALCO held a Ceremonial Session and Released a Coffee Table Book
4 August 2016 – A Ceremonial Session was held at the Headquarters of the Asian-African Legal Consultative Organization (AALCO) to observe the presentation to the Secretary-General elect of the Organization, Prof. Dr. Kennedy Gastorn, of the “handover note”—consisting of the substantive and organization documents of the Organization—by the incumbent Secretary-General, Prof. Dr. Rahmat Mohamad. Prof. Dr. Gastorn will officially succeed Prof. Dr. Rahmat Mohamad as the Secretary-General of AALCO on 15 August 2016, per relevant resolutions. The Ceremonial Session was attended by representatives of 28 AALCO Member States, including several Ambassadors, High Commissioners and Chargé d’affaires, and was presided over by H.E. Dr. V.D. Sharma, Joint Secretary, Legal and Treaties Division, Ministry of External Affairs, India, and H.E. Mr. Samuel P. Yalley, High Commissioner of Ghana to India—the President and Vice-President, respectively, of the Fifty-Fifth Annual Session of AALCO. Concurrently with the Ceremonial Session, the Asian-African Legal Consultative Organization released a commemorative coffee table book in recognition of the Organization observing its 60th Anniversary in 2016.
