The Secretary-General’s meeting with Ambassador Mr. Wang Qun, the Permanent Representative to the Permanent Mission of China to the United Nations in Vienna

On 18 October 2018, AALCO organized the Side Event on the topic “Enhancing International Cooperation in Combating Cyber Crime: An Asian-African Perspective” at the 9th Session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention against Transnational Organized Crime (COP9 UNTOC). Thereafter, the Secretary-General of AALCO, H.E. Prof. Dr. Kennedy Gastorn met with H.E. Ambassador Mr. Wang Qun, the Permanent Representative and Ambassador Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary to the Permanent Mission of the People’s Republic of China to the United Nations and other International Organizations in Vienna. The Secretary-General briefly apprised the Ambassador of the role and functions of AALCO while exchanging views on the work of intergovernmental organizations and on multilateral diplomacy. Drawing the Ambassador’s attention to the Side Event held earlier the same day, the Secretary-General expressed deep appreciation for the Chinese Government’s continued support. The Ambassador reassured that the Chinese Government shall continue to positively cooperate with AALCO. 

The meeting was attended by Ms. Guo Xiaomei, Deputy Director General of Treaty and Law Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China and Deputy Head of Chinese Delegation to the COP9 UNTOC; H.E. Amb. Dr. Namira Negm, Legal Counsel, African Union; Dr. Jiang Su, Associate Professor, University of Beijing, People’s Republic of China; andMs. Wang Liyu, Deputy Secretary-General, AALCO.
