AALCO organized a Side Event on the topic “Enhancing International Cooperation in Combating Cyber Crime: An Asian-African Perspective” at the 9th Session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention against Transnational Organized Crime (COP9 UNTOC) on Thursday, 18 October 2018 in the Vienna International Centre, Vienna, Austria.
The event took a stock of the endeavours in enhancing international cooperation to combat cybercrimes and the impediments faced in the process, especially in the Asian-African region. Prof. Dr. Kennedy Gastorn, the Secretary-General of AALCO; Ambassador Dr. Namira Negm, Legal Counsel, African Union; Dr. Jiang Su, Associate Professor, University of Beijing, People’s Republic of China; and Ms. Kamola Ibragimova, Cybercrime Education Coordinator, UNODC spoke at the Side Event as Panelists. Methods to effectively overcome the hindrances in enhancing international cooperation were suggested. The Side Event was moderated by Ms. Wang Liyu, Deputy Secretary-General, AALCO.
The event was attended by 50 delegates to the COP9 UNTOC, including delegates from the AALCO Member States, who took out time from their busy schedules to join the Organization in its efforts to facilitate exchange of views and to promote cooperation in combating cybercrimes.
