Deputy Secretary-General, AALCO delivered an address at the Opening Ceremony of the 5thTraining Course of China South-Asia Legal Training Base held online on 17 September 2020

 

The Opening Ceremony of the 5th Course of China-South Asia Legal Training Base was held in the afternoon of 17 September, 2020 in the form of an online video conference open to more than 130 participants comprising of legal professionals from China, South Asia and Southeast Asia.

Mr. Wang Wei, Deputy Director General of China Legal Exchange Center of China Law Society, Ms. Wang Liyu, Deputy Secretary-General of Asian-African Legal Consultative Organization and Mr. Sushil Kumar Lamsal, Minister/Deputy Chief of the Mission of the Embassy of Nepal delivered addresses at the Opening Ceremony.

On behalf of the Asian-African Legal Consultative Organization, Ms. Wang Liyu, Deputy Secretary-General, congratulated the successful convening  of the 5th Training Course of China-South Asia Legal Training Base online organized by China Law Society during these testing times. She recognized the praiseworthy contribution of the China Law Society to promote education and research amongst legal professionals in China and promote exchanges and cooperation between Chinese legal professionals and legal experts from various countries. The topics selected for discussion during the training course that included ‘legal risk and countermeasures in international trade and investment, latest development on economic and trade legal system, Belt and Road Initiative and E-commerce’ were also commended for their contemporary relevance and their importance for the AALCO Member States. In present times when all of humanity is dealing with a health crisis the importance of cooperation becomes all the more necessary to face common difficulties.

Over the course of two weeks, the participants from China, South Asia and Southeast Asia will attend online lectures delivered by renowned legal experts on various subjects of the Laws of China and international law. In addition to writing a thesis on a choice of three contemporary legal topics, the participants are also encouraged to share their legal experience on investment and trade law of their own countries. As it has proved in the past the program will continue to serve as an excellent forum for exchange and cooperation between the legal communities of the People’s Republic of China and South Asia.
