The Asian-African Legal Consultative Organization celebrated its Sixty-Third Constitution Day in New Delhi on 15th November 2019

The event was held at the Le Merdien Hotel and was attended by Ambassadors, High Commissioners and Liaison Officers from AALCO Member States, as well as special invitees from several non-Member States, international organizations and the staff of AALCO. 

During the event, the Secretary-General of AALCO, Prof. Dr. Kennedy Gastorn, delivered the welcoming address in which he reminisced about the contributions of the organization towards the progressive development of international law and also apprised the audience about the activities of AALCO. 

H.E. Baraka H. Luvanda, High Commissioner of the United Republic of Tanzania to India represented H.E. Amb. Dr. Augustine P. Mahiga, President of the 58th Annual Session of AALCO and Minister for Constitutional Affairs of the United Republic of Tanzania, as the Chief Guest at the occasion and delivered an address expressing his thanks to the Secretary-General for holding the constitution day and complimented the work of AALCO during the recently held 58th Annual Session of AALCO in Dar es Salaam, United Republic of Tanzania. He reiterated Tanzania’s faith in the Bandung Spirit and mentioned that the United Republic of Tanzania will work with AALCO in all its endeavors. 

Ms. Uma Sekhar, Additional Secretary and Legal Adviser, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India also delivered a special address on this occasion. She congratulated the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania for successfully hosting the 58th Annual Session of AALCO. She further appreciated AALCO’s untiring work in strengthening international law through various activities. In conclusion, she urged all the Member States of AALCO to commit to contribute their best expertise in the field of international law.
