VIOLATIONS OF INTERNATIONAL LAW IN PALESTINE AND OTHER OCCUPIED TERRITORIES BY ISRAEL AND OTHER INTERNATIONAL LEGAL ISSUES RELATED TO THE QUESTION OF PALESTINE.

 

The item “Deportation of Palestinians in Violation of International Law particularly the Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949 and the Massive Immigration and Settlement of Jews in Occupied Territories” was introduced at the Twenty-Seventh Annual Session held in Singapore (1988), on the recommendation of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Over the years the scope of the topic has been enlarged and a number of issues have been deliberated under the agenda item including ‘Deportation of Palestinians and other Israeli Practices among them the Massive Immigration and Settlement of Jews in the Occupied Territories in Violation of International Law Particularly the Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949’, ‘The Statehood of Palestine’, and the ‘Status of Jerusalem’

Further at Thirty-Ninth Session held in Cairo (2000) Session, the Secretariat was directed to monitor the developments in (all) occupied territories from the viewpoint of relevant legal aspects. Accordingly in light of the scope of the topic, AALCO/RES/54/S 4 was adopted at the Fifty-Fourth Annual Session held in Beijing (2015) which adopted the title of the agenda item in its present form. The item has been placed on the agenda of the every Annual Session since the turn of the millennium and was deliberated at the Sixtieth Annual Session of AALCO held in New Delhi, Republic of India (HQ).
