Training Programme on the working of AALCO held at the AALCO HQ on Tuesday, 14 January 2014
A “Training Programme on the working of AALCO” was held at the AALCO HQ on Tuesday, 14 January 2014 for the benefit of the Legal Experts from Saudi Arabia. The programme drew attendance from diplomats, Legal Advisors to the Foreign Ministry, the Royal Court and the Ministry of Petroleum of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The one day Training Programme consisted of a presentation by the Secretary General on “Contemporary Issues in International Law: An Asian-African Perspective” and introductory remarks by Mr. Graham Coop from Volterra Fietta
The programme primarily consisted of presentations by the AALCO Secretariat staff on the working of the Organization.
Mrs. Anuradha Bakshi, Principal Legal Officer, and Mr. Pandiaraj, Senior Legal Officer, AALCO made a presentation on the “The Historical Background to the Establishment of AALCO and its Functioning”.
Mr. Feng Qinghu, Deputy Secretary-General, AALCO, spoke on the “Rule of Law”. This was followed by a presentation on “The Relationship Between the International Law Commission and AALCO” by Dr. Hassan Soleimani, Deputy Secretary-General, AALCO.
Following presentations, the attendees engaged in an interactive question and answer session and exchanged views on contemporary challenges in international law and the role that AALCO can play in that context. At the end certificates were awarded to the participating members.
