Inauguration of the Second Session of the China-AALCO Exchange and Research Program in International Law
29 August 2016 – The Second Session of the China-AALCO Exchange and Research Program (CAERP) in International Law was inaugurated at the China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL) in Beijing, People’s Republic of China. The Inauguration Ceremony saw addresses delivered by H.E. Mr. Gao Feng, Special Representative (Environment), of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, H.E. Prof. Dr. Kennedy G. Gastorn, Secretary-General of AALCO, and Prof. Huang Jin, Chancellor of CUPL. Additionally, addresses were given by two representatives of the participants in the program; Mrs. Anuradha Bakshi, Principal Legal Officer of AALCO, and Mr. Macaulay Edo Williams, Assistant Director for Legal Affairs, Ministry of Justice of Nigeria.
The distinguished speakers welcomed the participants to Beijing and lauded the importance of the CAERP as the capacity building program for international law and international lawyers in the Asian and African regions. The distinguished speakers also noted the growth of the program since its First Session, held at Xiamen University in Xiamen, People’s Republic of China, in 2015. While 22 participants were present at the First Session, the Second Session is seeing the participation of 37 participants from 34 of AALCO’s Member States, the Secretariat of the AALCO and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Regions of China (HKSAR).
