The Closing Ceremony of the 5th Training Session of China-AALCO Exchange and Research Program on International Law held in Hong Kong SAR on 16 August 2019
The 5th Training Session of China-AALCO Exchange and Research Program on International Law was successfully completed, and certificates were awarded to the participants at a ceremony held at the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region on 16 August 2019. The three week training session was held from 29 July to 9 August in Beijing and from 10 to 16 August in Hong Kong SAR.
The training session was attended by 43 participants representing 35 AALCO Member States, 2 non-Member States (Laos and Algeria), the African Union Commission and the AALCO Secretariat. The session was organized by the Department of Treaty and Law, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, People’s Republic of China and supported by the Wuhan University and the Asian Academy of International Law (AAIL).
Deputy Commissioner Mr. Zhao Jiankai, AALCO Secretary-General H.E. Prof. Dr. Kennedy Gastorn, and AAIL Chairman Dr. Anthony Neoh delivered speeches at the closing ceremony. Mr. Zhao congratulated the participants for successfully auditing the course and gaining the opportunity to indulge in a unique experience- academically as well as culturally. Prof. Gastorn applauded the efforts of the organizers, and shared with the gathering his plans to create an online platform for the alumni of the training sessions to continue to interact. Dr. Neoh underlined in his speech the ever-growing importance of international law and training sessions thereupon in a world where peace and security is often being threatened.
On behalf of the participants, Mr. Malik Muhammad Danish, Assistant Director, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pakistan delivered a vote of thanks.
Ms. Zhou Lulu, Director of the Department of Treaty and Law of the Commissioner’s Office of the Foreign Ministry of China in Hong Kong SAR was the master of the ceremony. Ms. Wang Liyu, Deputy Secretary-General of AALCO was also present at the ceremony. Certificates were awarded to the participants by the Deputy Commissioner and the Secretary-General.
