Signing of Memorandum of Understanding between AALCO and the International Seabed Authority
On 9 October 2018, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Asian-African Legal Consultative Organization (AALCO) and the International Seabed Authority (ISA). The signing ceremony took place during the Fifty-Seventh Annual Session of AALCO, held in Tokyo, Japan from 8-12 October 2018.
H.E. Prof. Dr. Kennedy Gastorn, Secretary-General of AALCO, signed the MoU on behalf of the AALCO Secretariat and Mr. Michael Lodge, Secretary-General of the ISA signed the MoU on behalf of the Authority. By virtue of the terms of agreement envisaged in the MoU, both the Organizations look forward to its implementation which is mainly concerned with raising awareness of the activities of the Authority, as well as identifying opportunities for collaboration and cooperation on matters such as training and capacity building, for qualified candidates from AALCO Member States through initiatives such as fellowships, workshops and seminars.
