On 15th November 2023, the Asian-African Legal Consultative Organization celebrated its Sixty-Seventh Constitution Day in New Delhi.
The event was held at the AALCO Secretariat and was attended by Ambassadors, High Commissioners and Liaison Officers from AALCO Member States, as well as special invitees from several non-Member States, international organizations and the staff of AALCO.
During the event, the Secretary-General of AALCO, Dr. Kamalinne Pinitpuvadol, delivered the welcoming address in which he thanked the Member State for their constant support to him and the organization. He also spoke about the exponential success of the recently concluded 61st Annual Session of AALCO hosted by the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, held in Bali in October 2023 and reiterated about the inevitable contributions of the Afro-Asian community toward the codification and progressive development of International Law.
Ms. Uma Sekhar, Additional Secretary and Legal Adviser, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, delivered special remarks on this occasion. She recalled the purpose of the establishment of the organization and appreciated AALCO’s untiring work in strengthening international law through various activities.
Her Excellency Ms. Ina Hagniningtyas Krisnamurthi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to India, Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, New Delhi as a Chief Guest delivered an address on this occasion. She echoed the Secretary-General’s words on the need to collective efforts of the Asian and African states to uphold the Bandung Spirit. She continued to mention that the Republic of Indonesia as a founding member recognizes the significant contributions of the organization in the field of international law and hopes that the organization will continue to reach greater heights and encouraged AALCO to work as the voice of Asia and Africa.
